Trash4Health Initiative

Location: Bauchi State, Nigeria.

Facilitated by the Queen Amina Medical Integration, Trash 4 Health Initiative is a non-government organization that exchanges plastic wastes for health-related services. The plastic wastes are crushed, sold and used to support individuals, particularly women and farmers, who are not able to afford the National Health Insurance Scheme premium. The organization has established a multi-faceted collaboration between the community women, who act as referrals, thus breaking religious and cultural barriers in their access to quality healthcare services.
